 SFL Playoff Predictions

Here is my predictions for the SFL Playoffs Season 1 2011

Round 2

DC Giants vs Wicked Cowboys 34-21
Valhalla Packers vs BOSL Browns 21-17

Championship Game

DC Giants vs Valhalla Packers 35-30

Champions

DC Giants

Pretty cut and dry here. My original predictions had the Cowboys going all the way to the finals but unfortunately with the way the brackets worked out I just don't see that happening. There could be one upset during round 1 and that's the GC Redskins over the Valhalla Packers. It is possible but highly unlikely, the Packers have been putting in a lot of work, as long as they stick together and play as a team they should be ok. I think the most exciting game will be in the first round. June 4th - Wicked Cowboys vs Twisted Vikings. From the reports I get, the Cowboys have been putting in solid practices and also been putting together some scrimmages. I think they are probably the most improved team thus far going into the playoffs and will be looking to put a feud to rest on June 4th. There were talks around about the Vikings trying to put together some scrims and get in some good practice, but no word was received on whether or not that really happened, it's all speculation at this point.

The only defense I see even coming close to stopping the Giants would be the Twisted Vikings, if they were to overcome the Cowboys I think they ultimately have the best shot at upsetting the Giants in Round 2. Problem with that is the Vikings are not well known for a prolific offense, as much as a great defense is needed, if you can't put points up on the board your defense means almost nothing. I will say though, the Giants are in dire need of players. No word has come on whether or not they have filled much needed positions. If the Giants have to play with a lack of experience there may be trouble for them down the road.

The Patriots and Cardinals have about the toughest road any team could ask for. Both teams having major internal issues which is causing a huge rift. Patriots just lost two solid bodies which could have helped them fill out an 8 man roster and the Cardinals just lost their owner and now being owned by The SFL.

The BOSL Browns did a phenomenal job this season going on a 6 game winning streak to end 6-2. The problem they have though, they haven't beat but one playoff team, the Wicked Cowboys. They lost against the Twisted Vikings and DC Giants. I have a feeling the BOSL Browns are not the "best" coached team in the SFL and may hurt them here come playoff time. They'll get through the first round pretty easily since they are taking on a team they may not be able to even field 6 players, but come second round I really didn't seem much from them during the regular season to say that they have a chance walking into the Championship game. Damion Vyper will really have to show up and be on top of his game, if he's practiced a little more on throwing the ball and honing in on some accuracy they just might be able to flip this around.

It looks like the Twisted Vikings and Wicked Cowboys have the absolute toughest playoff schedule imaginable. Both these teams first have to bypass each other which is no easy feat for either of them. As I said earlier, I give the W to the Cowboys is purely on offensive capabilities. It was mentioned, here in iSE, earlier that the Cowboys are paying a player $10,000 Lindens a week for defensive coaching? I really hope that was not a serious comment. Granted they held teams to a grand total of 105 points, but failed to shut a single team out including the ever so deadly Bluez Eagles. Giants were able to hold teams to 85 total points with 2 shutouts and an offense that is renowned as the best in the SFL holding down the record for most points scored in a single season game, 50. Even the Packers defense was able to hold teams to a total of 153 points. It seems most of the top teams in this league are able to hold teams to reasonable scores and doubt any of them, except the Cowboys, are paying out premium dollars for it.

All in all this is a fantastic playoff picture. Round 1 is pretty cut and dry excluding the June 4th game and Round 2 is where it gets highly interesting. All things are possible here in the gaming world and only time will tell who is ready and spent those hours truly practicing. Good Luck to all the teams in the next 30 days.

SFL NEWS

Sources reveal that the TGF Dolphins and Heartland Cardinals have been acquisitioned by the SFL. No reasoning was given as to why the move was made, one can only make assumptions that the owners of these two teams have decided to fold up shop. One thing about this I do like though...I love the fact that the SFL will not penalize the Cardinal Players and let them continue on into the playoffs. Though how will this effect them come game time? SFL Plans for these teams come season 2? 11/13 teams officially remain, will we see any more drop outs as the off-season approaches?

New team name? SFL Cardinals?

Logan Villosum and Yancy Low have both been released from the Lion's Den Patriots. Sources say that it is due to contract disputes.

Two players up for grabs, 7 teams available, who will pick up them up just before May 21st? This has caused nothing but a huge debate on the Facebook Group and has been quite interesting. You can always check out more comments from fans, players, owners, even league officials on our Facebook group HERE.

SFL Playoff Picture

Official Seeding came in tonight for the SFL Playoff Brackets. Here you go folks, what everyone's been waiting for. Great job to the SFL here for promptly getting these out just after the last game of the season.

1: Diamond City Giants
2: Valhalla Packers
3: BOSL Browns
4: Wicked Cowboys
5: Twisted Vikings
6: Lion’s Den Patriots
7: GC Redskins
8: Heartland Cardinals

Round has all 8 teams playing giving no byes into the 2nd round. Typically speaking if you have more than one wild card team they would play each other first and foremost to determine who actually made the playoffs, but instead the SFL has decided to let both teams in. So that only left 5 teams out of the playoffs.

Round one:

May 21st: Diamond City Giants vs. Heartland Cardinals

May 22nd: Valhalla Packers vs. GC Redskins

June 4th: Wicked Cowboys vs. Twisted Vikings

June 5th: BOSL Browns vs. Lion’s Den Patriots

Round two is a complete mishap and the "Championship Game" is a bit messed up it seems. If the top seeds win, round two has the #1 seed vs #2 seed. Typically speaking you would want that game potentially to be the final game of the season to prove who truly is #1 at the top of the rankings. Not sure if this was an oversight or not but lucky you bottom seeders.

Round two:

June 11th: Winners from May 21st and May 22nd games

June 12th: Winners from June 4th and June 5th games

Championship Game:

June 18th: Winners from June 11th and June 12th

All in all, for the most part the SFL did a great job on seeding. The scheduling of Round Two is mediocre at best in my opinion but how can you complain when there is finally light to the end of the season. We wish all the teams participating this season all the luck in the world and can't wait to see how this season ends.

SFL: Oynx Bills defeat TGF Dolphins 35-20

Dolphins end their season 0-8. Who's to say what the future holds for the Bluez Eagles and the TGF Dolphins. I'm highly curious if they will rally back from this next season or if they will fold all together.

Still no information on the playoffs from the SFL. The season has officially ended and makes you question what the management staff behind the organization has been doing for the last 4 days at the very least. You could even say that it has been 7 days since the season has ended. Last Wednesday was officially the last game the SFL should have been waiting for to continue with seeding. It poses a lot of questions though as far as what truly goes on behind the scenes. Hope they come up with the information fast, everyone seems to be very excited and been waiting nearly 6 months to play 8 games plus playoffs.
